PKR rises 3.7 paisa against USD

December 17, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 3.73 paisa against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.27 per USD, compared to previous closing of 280.31.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.4 and a low (ask) of 281.35.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.50 for buying and 281.35 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR appreciated 67.43 paisa or 0.21% against the Euro, closing at 328.12 compared to the previous value of 328.79.

Against the British Pound, PKR strengthened by 1.35 rupees or 0.36% to 373.24 compared to 374.59 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 97.19 paisa or 0.28% against Swiss franc to close at 350.93.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value gained 0.50 paisa or 0.28% to close the session at 1.8015 versus 1.8065 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 1.11 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.78 from 39.77.

The local currency fell by 0.60 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.71. While it strengthened by 0.59 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.31.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has gained against the US Dollar by 3.49 rupees or 1.25%. While it has deteriorated 1.72 rupees or 0.61% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 3bps to 10.48% and 10.73%.
