PKR loses 9 paisa against USD

July 21, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 8.72 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 284.95 per USD, compared to previous closing of 284.87.
Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 287.7 and a low (ask) of 288.6.
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 287.50 for buying and 288.60 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR fell 11.57 paisa or 0.03% against the Euro, closing at 331.66 compared to the previous value of 331.54.
Against the British Pound, PKR depreciated by 24.55 paisa or 0.06% to 383.05 compared to 382.80 a day ago.
The local unit fell 53.02 paisa or 0.15% against Swiss franc to close at 355.77.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value depreciated 0.79 paisa or 0.41% to close the session at 1.9239 versus 1.9160 a day ago.
Pakistani Rupee weakened 2.71 paisa or 0.07% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.71 from 39.69.
The local currency decreased by 2.32 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 75.97. While it deteriorated by 2.58 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.58.
During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 1.19 rupees or 0.42%. While it has fell 6.40 rupees or 2.25% so far this calendar year.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.76% and 11.01%.
