PKR inches up to 281.03 per USD

October 23, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) increased by 2.40 paisa against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.03 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.05.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.30 and a low (ask) of 282.15.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.10 for buying and 282.10 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 9.86 paisa or 0.03% against the Euro, closing at 326.01 compared to the previous value of 325.91.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 76.89 paisa or 0.21% to 375.23 compared to 374.46 a day ago.

The local unit rose 34.00 paisa or 0.10% against Swiss franc to close at 352.52.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value gained 0.80 paisa or 0.43% to close the session at 1.8429 versus 1.8509 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 0.60 paisa or 0.02% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.45 from 39.45.

The local currency appreciated by 1.04 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.93. While it rose by 0.76 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.51.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has increased against the US Dollar by 2.73 rupees or 0.97%. While it has depreciated 2.48 rupees or 0.88% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 10.93% and 11.18%.
