PKR holds steady against USD

August 26, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) stayed flat against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.86 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.87.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 283.1 and a low (ask) of 283.9.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.00 for buying and 284.10 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 2.30 rupees or 0.70% against the Euro, closing at 327.52 compared to the previous value of 329.82.

Against the British Pound, PKR rose by 1.37 rupees or 0.36% to 379.31 compared to 380.68 a day ago.

The local unit gained 1.54 rupees or 0.44% against Swiss franc to close at 349.72.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 0.46 paisa or 0.24% to close the session at 1.9085 versus 1.9131 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 5.95 paisa or 0.15% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.36 from 39.42.

The local currency strengthened by 0.72 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 75.12. While it gained by 0.65 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.74.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has rose against the US Dollar by 1.90 rupees or 0.68%. While it has depreciated 3.31 rupees or 1.17% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 10.79% and 11.04%.
