PKR gains 21 paisa against USD

July 23, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 21.32 paisa or 0.07% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 284.76 per USD, compared to previous closing of 284.97.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 286.5 and a low (ask) of 288.3.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 288.15 for buying and 288.60 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR decreased 1.22 rupees or 0.37% against the Euro, closing at 334.41 compared to the previous value of 333.19.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 1.75 rupees or 0.46% to 385.70 compared to 383.96 a day ago.

The local unit fell 2.30 rupees or 0.64% against Swiss franc to close at 359.77.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 1.06 paisa or 0.55% to close the session at 1.9406 versus 1.9300 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 4.68 paisa or 0.12% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.76 from 39.71.

The local currency increased by 5.68 paisa or 0.07% against Saudi Riyal to 75.91. While it rose by 5.91 paisa or 0.08% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.53.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has decreased against the US Dollar by 99.33 paisa or 0.35%. While it has depreciated 6.21 rupees or 2.18% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 10.74% and 10.99%.
