PKR gains 16 paisa against USD

August 15, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained by 16.07 paisa or 0.06% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 282.06 per USD, compared to previous closing of 282.22.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 283 and a low (ask) of 284.55.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.50 for buying and 284.90 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR appreciated 86.51 paisa or 0.26% against the Euro, closing at 329.59 compared to the previous value of 330.45.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 6.44 paisa or 0.02% to 382.36 compared to 382.30 a day ago.

The local unit strengthened 1.07 rupees or 0.31% against Swiss franc to close at 350.21.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value weakened 0.66 paisa or 0.34% to close the session at 1.9200 versus 1.9134 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 6.10 paisa or 0.16% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.27 from 39.33.

The local currency rose by 3.08 paisa or 0.04% against Saudi Riyal to 75.17. While it gained by 4.16 paisa or 0.05% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.80.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has increased against the US Dollar by 1.70 rupees or 0.60%. While it has weakened 3.51 rupees or 1.25% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 10.80% and 11.05%.
