K-Electric secures Rs50bn write-off from NEPRA

June 10, 2025 (MLN): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved write-off claims amounting to Rs50.01 billion for the previous control period, K-Electric Limited (PSX: KEL) has disclosed.

This follows the company's petition for claims totaling Rs76.1bn for the same period, the company's filing on PSX revealed today.

Under the Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) for FY2017-FY2023, KEL was permitted to claim actual write-offs, subject to the fulfillment of specified criteria.

In line with this, KEL submitted its write-off claims for each financial year of the control period after complying with the requirements set forth in NEPRA's MYT Reconsideration Decision dated July 05, 2018.

The company stated it is currently evaluating the decision in detail and will consider exercising available remedies in accordance with statutory provisions, if necessary.
