In a surprising and refreshing move, Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (PSX: SAZEW), the assembler and distributor of Haval vehicles in Pakistan, has chosen not to increase retail prices despite the NEV Levy.
Instead, the company has internally adjusted its cost structure, slightly lowering ex-factory prices to absorb the new tax ensuring that the final consumer price remains the same.
This is a rare and commendable decision in an industry where price hikes are the norm whenever new duties or levies are introduced.
Sazgar’s move reflects a customer-first approach and a strategic effort to maintain its edge in the hybrid SUV market.
While other automakers are revising prices upward in response to the levy, Haval’s pricing stability not only strengthens its market positioning but also boosts consumer confidence in a time of economic uncertainty.
To note, SAZEW posted a strong sales rebound in June 2025, with three-wheeler sales rising 28% MoM to 2,435 units and up 34% YoY.
Four-wheeler sales surged 47% MoM to 1,349 units, marking a 55% increase from June last year.
However, production showed a mixed trend, as three-wheeler output declined 24% MoM, while four-wheeler production dipped 6% compared to May.
