Govt reviews progress on $90m Agriculture Resilience Fund

September 09, 2025 (MLN): The Government welcomed progress on Acumen’s $90 million Agriculture Resilience Fund for Pakistan, which seeks to promote climate-smart agriculture through innovative blended finance.

The initiative was reviewed in a meeting between Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and Acumen Pakistan’s leadership under Dr. Ayesha Khan CEO and Country Head of Acumen Pakistan.

The Minister appreciated the effort, stressing that Pakistan among the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries which faces mounting risks to its agriculture-based economy.

He emphasized the importance of innovative financing models that enhance food security, strengthen adaptive capacity, and safeguard rural livelihoods.

Aurangzeb welcomed Acumen’s continued commitment to Pakistan and acknowledged its role in promoting smart farming and farmer resilience through investments in agribusinesses.

He assured the organization of government backing for initiatives aligned with Pakistan’s sustainable development and climate resilience agenda.

It was also shared that a high-level delegation of Acumen Board members and global investors will visit Pakistan next month to engage with stakeholders in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, amid improving macroeconomic indicators and a forward-looking economic outlook.

Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to deepen collaboration for building a resilient and sustainable agriculture sector in Pakistan.
