Govt launches Pak-Business express train

July 30, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan has launched the Pak-Business
Express train alongside a series of modern facilities at Lahore Railway
Station, marking a significant step toward revamping the country’s rail
infrastructure.
The initiative, by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, includes
the installation of escalators, renovated lounges and waiting halls, and free WIFI
access, aimed at enhancing the passenger travel experience.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, the Prime Minister praised
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi and Pakistan Railways for delivering world-class
services, calling it the "first step in a long journey" toward
modernizing the sector nationwide.
He urged authorities to improve the freight system and raise
Pakistan Railways to international standards, making it the preferred mode of
travel for the common citizen.
Shehbaz Sharif also addressed the recent four-day conflict
with India, describing it as a hard-fought but swift military success
recognized globally.
He highlighted the technological superiority of Pakistan’s
Armed Forces, noting the effective use of the Al-Fatah missile by the Army and
the strategic preparedness of the Navy and Air Force.
On economic matters, the Prime Minister said Pakistan has
achieved macroeconomic stability, with inflation and interest rates on the
decline. He also highlighted progress in foreign relations, citing deeper
cooperation with China on the next phase of CPEC and strengthening ties with
the United States.
He credited U.S. President Donald Trump with brokering the
recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India, calling it a major diplomatic
breakthrough.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi, in his remarks, said the
ministry is committed to transforming the travel experience through digital and
physical upgrades.
The installation of ATM and POS machines at 348 stations for
a cashless ticketing system, and said escalators will also be installed at
Karachi Railway Station. Inquiry services are expected to be fully restored by
next week.
