July 23 ,2025(MLN): Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to ensure the safety and security of Chinese citizens residing in the country, with fresh directives issued to enhance protective measures nationwide.

A high-level review meeting on the security of Chinese nationals was chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, where it was noted that steps are being taken to strengthen protection efforts, particularly in major cities including Islamabad.

Emphasis was placed on Safe City projects being rolled out across the country to modernize surveillance and response systems in line with global standards, said a press release.

The importance of longstanding Pakistan-China relations was stressed, with a clear message that the safety of Chinese citizens remains a top government priority.

As the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) enters its second phase with increased business-to-business collaboration, the need to protect Chinese personnel and investments has become more urgent.

Creation of a secure and business-friendly environment for Chinese nationals was described as essential to bolstering investor confidence and supporting Pakistan’s economic outlook.

The Prime Minister also called for fast-track facilitation at all airports to ensure ease of movement for Chinese citizens.

Details of the security arrangements were shared by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who said that special protocols are already in place amid ongoing threats.

Coordination between federal and provincial governments was described as comprehensive and effective in supporting these efforts.
