Gharibwal Cement boosts solar capacity to 24.5MW

June 16, 2025 (MLN): Gharibwal Cement Ltd. (PSX: GWLC) has commissioned an additional 12.5 megawatts (MW) of solar power at its plant site, bringing its total installed solar capacity to 24.5MW, according to the company's filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

The new capacity, which commenced commercial operations on June 16, has been integrated with the firm’s existing 12MW infrastructure and is fully operational for captive consumption.

The investment will support Gharibwal’s long-term energy cost optimisation strategy and advance its sustainability goals by reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
