February 16, 2026 (MLN): Ecopack Limited (PSX: ECOP) reported a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs88.37 million for the six months ended December 31, 2025, showing a 4.96% increase compared to Rs84.20m in the same period last year.

Earnings per share (EPS) rose 5.17% to Rs1.83 from Rs1.74 in the corresponding period of 2024.

The company’s revenue from contracts with customers declined 6.22% YoY to Rs3.40bn from Rs3.62bn.

After accounting for sales tax, net revenue stood at Rs2.88bn, down 6.20% compared to Rs3.07bn last year, indicating subdued volumetric growth and pricing pressures during the period.

Cost of sales decreased 6.06% YoY to Rs2.47bn from Rs2.63bn, broadly in line with the fall in revenue.

However, gross profit declined 7.00% to Rs410.76m from Rs441.67m, with gross margins slightly compressing amid lower topline.

On the expense front, selling and distribution expenses increased 13.03% YoY to Rs94.35m, while administrative and general expenses rose 16.45% to Rs93.96m, showing inflationary pressures and higher operational costs.

Other expenses dropped sharply by 59.84% to Rs10.92m, providing partial relief.

Other income fell significantly by 96.51% YoY to Rs28,000 compared to Rs802,000 in the same period last year, limiting non-core earnings support.

The company also recorded a net impairment loss on financial assets of Rs0.88m during the period, compared to no such charge last year.

As a result, operating profit declined 16.11% YoY to Rs210.67m from Rs251.12m, as higher operating expenses and weaker gross margins weighed on performance.

Finance costs decreased 44.23% YoY to Rs59.13m from Rs106.57m, showing lower borrowing costs and/or reduced leverage, which helped cushion the impact of weaker operating performance.

Consequently, profit before taxation increased 4.63% YoY to Rs151.24m compared to Rs144.55m last year, primarily supported by a substantial reduction in finance costs.

Income tax expense rose 4.18% to Rs62.87m from Rs60.35m, in line with higher taxable income.
