ECC to prioritize circular debt plan in 11-point agenda

December 08, 2025 (MLN):  The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) is set to meet tomorrow with the Circular Debt Management Plan for FY 2025–26 placed at the top of an extensive 11-point agenda expected to receive key approvals.

The committee will review a summary on the electricity purchase agreement with Iran, alongside proposals from the Petroleum Division seeking a possible increase in margins for Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and petroleum dealers.

The ECC is also likely to approve a technical supplementary grant of Rs 1.28 billion for the Pakistan Digital Authority.

A summary from the Commerce Division regarding the implementation of the Lahore High Court’s decision is also scheduled for discussion.

The agenda further includes deliberations on a proposed ban on the import of chloroform, as well as changes to the procedure for vehicle imports under the Gift Scheme, with multiple summaries from the Commerce Division on the matter.

Additionally, the committee will take up issues related to the release or surrender of development funds under the Cabinet Division, approval of a Rs5bn technical supplementary grant for housing sector subsidies, and a summary concerning PASCO’s dissolution and the establishment of a special vehicle for the Wheat Stock Management Company.

The ECC will also review a summary related to budgetary releases for the PIA Holding Company, adding to a session expected to yield several significant economic decisions.
