September 10, 2025 (MLN): Digital transformation is redefining the future of manufacturing, offering Pakistan a critical opportunity to accelerate time-to-market, reduce costs and build global credibility to expand exports.

Speaking at the summit themed “From Concept to Product,” Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized that this vision is not just a slogan but a transformative model driving Pakistan’s entry into the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

He highlighted the success stories of industrialized nations like the UK, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore, noting China’s dramatic rise through manufacturing-led growth as a recent example.

Pakistan, he stated, stands at a similar crossroads, equipped with human capital, a strategic location, and natural resources to achieve similar progress.

Under Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan has introduced its first comprehensive industrial policy aimed at creating a robust and competitive industrial ecosystem.

This policy seeks to transition from traditional assembly-line production to design-led, connected, and technology-driven manufacturing.

The summit featured cutting-edge technologies such as 3D scanning, additive manufacturing, and zero-defect production, which will enable Pakistani industries to achieve millimeter-level precision, shorten prototyping time and produce export-ready products at scale.

Mr. Khan stressed the importance of empowering SMEs through shared digital platforms and accredited labs to help them meet global standards and integrate into international value chains.

He also stressed aligning diplomacy with industrial goals, pointing to the government’s efforts following the Prime Minister’s visit to China, including industrial relocation, co-development, and technology transfer.

Addressing various stakeholders, Mr. Khan called on international partners to bring their platforms and standards to Pakistan, encouraged local manufacturers to embrace digital workflows and urged educational institutions to align curricula with industry needs by introducing job-ready micro-credentials.

Concluding his address, he issued a call to action: “The world is moving ahead exponentially we cannot afford to be left behind. The time for transformation is now.”
