China issues guideline to accelerate AI integration

 August 27, 2025 (MLN): China has rolled out a comprehensive guideline to advance the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Plus Initiative, targeting widespread adoption of AI technologies across six major fields by 2027.

These fields include science and technology, industry, consumption, public welfare, governance and international cooperation.

As reported by China Central Television (CCTV), the plan envisions that within the next two years, over 70% of next-generation intelligent terminals will be in use, while core sectors of the smart economy will demonstrate substantial expansion.

The directive also emphasizes strengthening AI’s contribution to public governance and further enhancing an open and collaborative framework for AI development.

Looking ahead to 2030, the document sets the goal of making AI a central driver of China’s high-quality growth. By then, the penetration rate of smart devices and related applications is expected to surpass 90%.

The smart economy is projected to emerge as a crucial engine for national progress, ensuring broader accessibility to technology and equitable distribution of benefits

The guideline also highlights China’s intention to position AI as a global public good, encouraging an inclusive ecosystem based on trust, diversity, equality and mutual benefit.
