Cement exports show impressive growth of 90% MoM, 48% YoY in May

June 22, 2021 (MLN): Cement exports during the month of May 2021 jumped by a whopping 90% MoM and 47.8% YoY to $28.527 million compared to $15 million in the previous month and $19.3 million in May’20, the latest data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics revealed.

The significant increase in cement exports during the month under review can be attributed to the low-base effect.

Nonetheless, during 11MFY21, cement exports remained elevated as it up by 4.57% YoY to stand at $253.58 million. While in the corresponding period last year, Cement exports stood at $242.5 million.

In terms of quantity, the exports of cement during May’21 expanded by 117% MoM and 33.89% YoY to 818,471 metric tons.

On a cumulative basis, the quantity of Cement exported during 11MFY21, increased by 13.27% YoY from 6,570,921 metric tons to 7,442,573 metric tons, where north and south region exports showcased a growth of 23% and 24% on a YoY basis, respectively.
