April 09, 2026 (MLN): Nine major road projects in Balochistan under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) have so far utilized Rs 85.49 billion from a total allocation of Rs191.67bn under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for 2022-23 to 2025-26, according to APP.

These projects, located primarily in the western zone of Balochistan, are progressing at varying levels of financial and physical completion, showing the government’s focus on enhancing connectivity in the region.

The Khuzdar Kuchlak N-25 project, spanning 330 kilometers, accounts for the largest share of investment with Rs 60.6bn allocated and Rs28.98bn spent to date.

Similarly, the Karachi Kararo and Wadh Khuzdar N-25, along with the Kararo Wadh and Kuchlak Chaman N-25 projects, each with an allocation of Rs33bn, have recorded expenditures of Rs8.69bn and Rs7.67bn respectively.

Among these, the Awaran Naal M-8 section has shown remarkable financial progress, utilizing Rs19.01bn out of Rs23.03bn, making it one of the most advanced projects in terms of spending.

Other ongoing initiatives include the Hoshab Awaran M-8 stretch, where Rs5.25bn has been spent from an allocation of Rs11.29bn, and the Nokundi Mashkel project, which has utilized Rs4.85bn out of Rs7.36bn.

The Quetta Western Bypass N-25 has spent Rs3.27bn from its Rs5.91bn allocation, while the Basima Khuzdar N-30 and Zhob Kuchlak N-50 projects have recorded expenditures of Rs3.66bn and Rs4.11bn, respectively, against their planned budgets.

These road projects are critical for improving transportation infrastructure along Balochistan’s western route, which serves as a key corridor for trade and logistics under CPEC.

Once completed, the upgraded road network is expected to reduce travel time, facilitate trade, and integrate remote regions into the broader economic landscape.

The development shows Pakistan’s commitment to modernizing infrastructure under CPEC and positioning Balochistan as a strategic hub for regional trade and connectivity.
