Another cargo vessel docks at Gwadar

May 11, 2026 (MLN):  The government has pointed to Gwadar Port's expanding role in regional maritime trade, also declares the successful berthing of another cargo vessel at the deep-sea port as a sign of growing international confidence in its facilities.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry stated that MV Yuan Hang Wei Ye docked at Gwadar Port at 10:15am on May 11, carrying around 34,000 tonnes of cargo comprising approximately 20,000 pieces, according to a press release issued.

The vessel is conducting transshipment operations, with consignments bound for Abu Dhabi and Kuwait to be offloaded at the port.

The minister termed the development an encouraging indicator of the port's rising prominence in regional maritime trade, adding that such operations reflect growing international confidence in Gwadar's strategic position as a transshipment hub.

He reaffirmed the government's commitment to further upgrading port infrastructure and services to attract greater volumes of global shipping traffic.
