Abbott Laboratories half-year profit soars over 65%

(Pakistan) Limited (PSX: ABOT) shared its financial results for the
six-month period ended June 30, 2025 (1HFY25), posting a profit after tax of
Rs3.54bn, up 65.6% compared to Rs2.14bn in the same period last year.
The company’s earnings per share (EPS) surged to Rs36.19 in
1HFY25, from Rs21.86 in 1HFY24 which showed growth of 65.6%.
Net sales increased by 13.1% YoY to Rs36.41bn, supported by
a 14.5% rise in local sales, while export sales fell 12.7% YoY to Rs1.49bn.
Cost of sales remained flat, decreasing marginally by 0.4% to Rs23.79bn.
As a result, gross profit rose sharply by 51.6% to Rs12.61bn
in 1HFY25.
Operating expenses saw double-digit growth, with selling
& distribution expenses climbing 17.2% YoY and administrative expenses
increasing 14.6%.
Finance costs expanded YoY to Rs37m.
Profit before tax almost doubled, advancing 98.9% YoY to
Rs6bn, compared to Rs3.02bn in the prior year. Tax expenses stood at Rs2.46bn,
up almost 3 times YoY, largely driven by a surge in current tax.
