9th South Asia Sichuan Business Promotion Roundtable Conference to be held

September 14, 2018 (MLN): President SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SAARC CCI), Mr. Ruwan Edirisinghe will be leading a high-level business delegation to the capital of Sichuan Province, Chengdu, on the invitation of Sichuan Government, China.

This theme of this year’s 9th South Asia – Sichuan Business Promotion Roundtable Conference is “Promoting Deep Integration of China – SAARC Economy: Cross Border E-Commerce, Industrial Transfer and Infrastructure Cooperation” which aims to enhance regional economic cooperation and integration between China and SAARC region industries and businesses.

SAARC CCI is also inaugurating its’ first Sub-office in People’s Republic of China, in the iconic One Belt One Road (OBOR) building in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The sub-office will provide technical and procedural support and expertise to undertake the sectorial programs of the SAARC CCI, towards the regional integration and development in the region.

The chair of the roundtable for this year will be Commerce Minister of Sri Lanka Mr. Abdul Rishad Badiutheen. Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Nepal, Mr. Lal Babu Pandit, will also grace the occasion with his presence.

The delegation includes the leading industrialist from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indian, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The delegation will participate in the 9th China South Asia- Sichuan Business Promotion Roundtable and 2018 Chengdu Dialogue on South Asia, Production Capacity Cooperation in Chengdu scheduled on 17, 18 and 19th Sept, respectively.

SAARC CCI and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) jointly, have been organizing the South Asia – Sichuan Business Promotion Round-Table Conference since 2010. Till 2017, SAARC CCI & CCPIT- Chengdu has successfully hosted eight (8) editions of South Asian Sichuan- Sichuan Promotion Conference.     

The roundtable is source of cooperation and opportunities for the South Asian business community for striking new partnerships, sharing of best business practices and exploring virgin business opportunities in China.
