July 19, 2025 (MLN): Financial assistance is currently being disbursed to around 4.7 million deserving families across Punjab under the Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) initiative, the Benazir Kafaalat Programme, according to Director General BISP Punjab, Muhammad Nasir Khalily.

The announcement was made during a high-level visit by the Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety to the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Central Zonal Office in Lahore, according to the press release.

The Minister’s visit aimed to review the progress of ongoing initiatives and reinforce the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability and efficiency in service delivery.

The briefing also highlighted the impact of the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme, Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, which has significantly boosted school enrolment and retention.

Since its inception, the initiative has facilitated the enrolment of 8.2m children in Punjab, ensuring continued access to education for underprivileged communities.

Another key area of focus was the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, which addresses the nutritional needs of pregnant and lactating women as well as infants. This intervention remains critical in combating malnutrition and improving health outcomes.

The Minister emphasised the timely and effective resolution of beneficiary complaints and urged officials to strengthen grievance redressal mechanisms to address concerns with urgency and empathy.

He commended the BISP Punjab team for their dedication in delivering essential services to vulnerable families across the province and highlighted the importance of the Benazir Hunarmand Programme, which provides technical training to BISP beneficiaries and their children.

The initiative aims to promote long-term economic independence by equipping participants with skills necessary for sustainable livelihoods.

Director general OM BISP HQ Fawad Nawaz Kiyani, director CZO Waqar un Nisa, and senior officials including deputy directors and assistant directors were present during the visit.
