140 Foreign Delegations participation confirmed for International Carpet Exhibition

Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association senior vice chairman and chairman  Exhibition Riaz Ahmed on Thursday said as many as 140 foreign delegations have confirmed so far their participation in mega International Carpet Exhibition being started from 5 October in Lahore.

Chairing a high level meeting of the association held here today in regard of upcoming mega exhibition, Riaz Ahmed appreciating the role of the Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) for financing the exhibitions in and outside the country, said one of the portion of the funds had been released by the TDAP in wake of financial support of the International Carpet Exhibition.

He said they are grateful to TDAP Director General Lahore Mian Riaz Ahmed for solving the traders’ outstanding old issues besides helping them to boost the exports of the carpets. He asked the government to increase the number of employees in TDAP so that the carpet exporters’ issues would be solved on exigent basis and export of carpets to be increased manifold in future.

Riaz Ahmed, expressing his serious concern over surrendering of one of DG of TDAP in Lahore, demanded a second look into this matter. He said the government should set up new offices in different cities of the province and deploy honest, hardworking and talented officers so that with their help the export of the carpet should be enhanced within minimum time besides solving the issues of the exporters.

He demanded the TDAP to release the remaining portion of the funds so that the final preparations regarding the exhibition should be sped up. He said it is a good omen that the registration of the foreign delegations have been completed and he is much optimistic that this mega exhibition would be a great success with the help of TDAP and other concerned departments but this exhibition would also be helpful to increase the volume of the carpet export of the country.
