October 13, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index held Monday's intra-day trading session at 160,904.64 points, marking a sharp decline of 2,193.55 points.

The index touched an intraday high of 161,988.12 and a low of 160,057.95 points as of 10:10am, as the market has came under heavy selling pressure driven by profit-taking after recent highs.

Sentiment are further weighed down by escalating cross-border tensions with Afghanistan, coupled with domestic and global uncertainties, which has kept investors largely on the sidelines.

The ongoing political unrest marked by widespread road closures and protests in major cities, also have added fuel to the fire.

Currently the total volume of the KSE-100 Index is at 108.82 million shares.

 

Of the 100 index companies 10 are up, 85 are down, , while 5 remain untraded.

Top losers currently PGLC (-5.96%), HGFA (-5.43%), SHFA (-3.67%), PKGS (-2.86%), and SYS (-2.78%).

On the other hand, top gainers are UNITY (+8.78%), PTC (+2.79%), TRG (+2.77%), PKGP (+2.07%), and PSEL (+1.17%).

 

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were FFC (-217.90pts), UBL (-151.29pts), SYS (-140.11pts), MCB (-121.15pts), and PPL (-113.02pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were UNITY (+25.34pts), TRG (+24.72pts), PTC (+20.88pts), PKGP (+9.52pts), and PSEL (+9.17pts).

 

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-686.90pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-365.75pts), Fertilizer (-302.44pts), Cement (-274.27pts), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-96.27pts).

While the index was supported by Insurance (+6.92pts), Sugar & Allied Industries (+0.00pts), Modarabas (+0.00pts), Synthetic & Rayon (+0.00pts), and Woollen (-0.03pts).

 

In the broader market, the All-Share Index is at 51,286.13 with a net loss of 703.85 points or 1.35%.

Total market volume is 216.78 million shares compared to 1,401.25m from the previous session while traded value is  recorded at Rs8.89 billion showing a decrease of Rs38.90bn.

There were 80,831 trades reported in 412 companies with 99 closing up, 291 closing down, and 22 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 35,277 points or 28.08% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 45,778 points or 39.76% so far this calendar year.
