YoY Urea, DAP off take declines during May – June, 2018

According to the latest data released by the National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC) total nutrient offtake during the month of May, 2018 decreased by 7.4 percent to a total of 304 thousand tonnes.

Amongst the nutrients, Nitrogen offtake was at 263 thousand tonnes decreasing by 6.2 percent. Phosphate offtake was 38 thousand tonnes posting a decrease of 12.8 percent over May 2017. Potash offtake witnessed a decrease by 36.3 percent over May 2017.

In product terms, urea offtake was about 494 thousand tonnes, which decreased by 5.2 per cent while DAP offtake was 59 thousand tonnes, which decreased by 17 per cent over May 2017.

Local Fertilizer production reached 531 thuosand tonnes during the month of May, 2018 whereas Urea Production was at 38 thousand production which makes up for more than 73 percent of the total fertilizer production.

However, total imports in the fertilizer sector reached 191 thousand tonnes of which DAP imports were at 183 thousand tonnes, MOP imports were 2 thousand tonnes, SSP at 1 thousand tonnes and SOP at 5 thousand tonnes.

Geographical off-take

Urea offtake increased by 27 and 52 per cent in Sindh and Balochistan respectively, while its offtake decreased by 15 and 35 per cent in Punjab and KP respectively.

DAP offtake decreased by 11, 8, 69 and 63 per cent in Punjab, Sindh, KP and Balochistan, respectively.
