Weekly SPI slips another 0.04 percent over the week

January 28, 2019 (MLN): Weekly Sensitive Price Index (SPI) during the week ended January 24, 2019 has slipped another 0.04% over prior week, whereas compared to the corresponding period of last year, SPI has mounted by 6.92%.

Looking through the data recorded by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), 14 of the 53 monitored items recorded an increase in their average prices, during the week. Of these 14 items, the ones that witnessed the largest increase included tomatoes (+14.73%) and Garlics (+4.08%).

Meanwhile, only 10 items’ average price dropped, which included Potatoes (-5.65%), LPG Cylinder (-4.3%), Onions (-2.97%) and Chicken (-2.96%).

Apart from this, the average price of Sona Urea per 50 KG bag has inched up by 0.34% over the week, whereas average cement price per 50KG bag has tripped by 0.06% (WoW).
