Weekly SPI Increases by 0.22 Percent

Nov 25, 2019 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 0.22% during the week ended Nov 21, 2019 while the SPI increased by 19.86% compared to the corresponding period from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 132.82 compared to 132.53 on Nov 14, 2019 while the index was recorded at 110.81 a year ago, on Nov 22, 2018

Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 21 items increased, 6 items decreased whereas 24 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 0.16% and 0.35%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 0.35% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.16%.

On an yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 18.57% and 23.25%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 20.96% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 18.57%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.2012 per 50 kg bag which is 0.55% higher than last week’s price and 14.38% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, average Cement price was recorded at Rs.581 per 50 kg bag, which is 0.17% higher than the previous week and 3.33% lower than prices last year.
