Urea offtake declines by 3.1% YoY during September

October 26, 2020 (MLN): The overall urea offtake during the month of September 2020 was 393 thousand tonnes, which represents a decrease of 3.1 percent over the offtake witnessed in September 2019.

According to a monthly report published by National Fertilizer Development Centre, the total urea availability during September 2020 was about 871 thousand tonnes, which comprised 308 thousand tonnes of previous month leftover and 563 thousand tonnes domestic production (Table 5). Urea offtake during September 2020 was 393 thousand tonnes leaving a closing balance of 465 thousand tonnes.

Kharif 2020 started with inventory of 592 thousand tonnes of urea. Total availability of urea (including 3097 thousand tonnes of domestic production) was about 3689 thousand tonnes against the offtake of 3188 thousand tonnes, leaving inventory of 465 thousand tonnes for Rabi 2020-21.

Urea offtake decreased by 1, 13 and 28 per cent in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan respectively. Its offtake increased by 14 percent in KP.
