April 16, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) on Monday registered traded contracts worth around Rs38.05 billion, marking a drop of 25.37% DoD compared to the previous close of Rs51bn. 

At the same time, with a decrease of 22.41% DoD in the number of lots traded, 27,268 lots changed hands, compared to 35,147 during the previous session. While, the commodity exchange closed at 10,384, down by 0.35% DoD.

Gold continued to stay in the spotlight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs22 billion. Following closely behind, NSDQ 100 recorded trading valued at Rs4bn.

Currencies through COTS also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs3.42bn. In addition, Platinum, Crude Oil, and Silver attracted substantial attention from investors as well and their transactions stood at Rs1.28bn, Rs2.35bn, and Rs3.72bn, respectively.

Moreover, transactions of Natural Gas transactions reached Rs158.6 million, DJ at Rs255.55m, Copper at Rs269.37m, SP 500 at Rs311m, and Brent at Rs54m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 05 lots amounting to Rs5.7m changing hands.
