Trading activity at PMEX soars by 47.2% DoD

PMEX trading activity falls 13.6% to Rs18.8bn

May 23, 2024 (MLN): The trading activity at Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) soared by 47.2% DoD on Wednesday to clock in at Rs20.09 billion compared to the previous session's Rs13.65bn.

Similarly, the number of lots traded fell to 17,241, compared to the 12,143 traded in the previous session.

The commodity exchange closed at 10,925, down 0.22% DoD.

 

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs12.35bn. Following closely behind, Currencies through COTS recorded trading valued at Rs2bn.

Silver also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs1.14bn. In addition, Nasdaq 100, Crude Oil and Platinum attracted substantial attention from investors, and their transactions stood at around Rs1.28bn, Rs1.26bn, and Rs1.02bn, respectively.

Moreover, Natural Gas transactions reached Rs177.94m, DJ at Rs99.95m, Copper at Rs333m, S&P 500 at Rs74.16m and Brent at Rs33.83m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 85 lots amounting to Rs131.72m changing hands.
