PKR gains marginally, settles at 277.06/USD

October 05, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) edged higher against the US dollar in Monday’s interbank trading, gaining 0.83 paisa to settle at PKR 277.06 per USD versus the previous close of PKR 277.07.

During the session, the rupee traded within a range of PKR 277.05 to PKR 277.10, with the intraday low and high recorded on the ask and bid sides, respectively.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the US dollar at PKR 277.25 for buying and PKR 278.10 for selling.

Against other major currencies, the local currency appreciated by 88.22 paisa, or 0.28%, against the Euro to close at PKR 310.73 from PKR 311.61.

The PKR, however, weakened by 70.94 paisa, or 0.19%, against the British Pound, closing at PKR 366.57 compared with PKR 365.86 previously.

Against the Swiss franc, the rupee gained 13.10 paisa, or 0.04%, to settle at PKR 334.19.

The local currency also strengthened against the Japanese Yen by 0.28 paisa, or 0.16%, closing at 1.7547 versus 1.7575 a day earlier.

Against the Chinese Yuan, the PKR appreciated by 0.13 paisa to close at 41.32 from 41.33.

Meanwhile, the rupee lost 0.36 paisa against the Saudi Riyal, settling at 73.80, while it gained 0.84 paisa against the UAE Dirham to close at 75.44.

During the current fiscal year, the PKR has strengthened by Rs1.10, or 0.40%, against the US dollar. On a calendar-year basis, the local currency has appreciated by Rs3.06, or 1.10%.

In the money market, the benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates increased by 4 basis points to 12.14% and 12.39%, respectively.
