Traders see 50bps Fed cut likelier than 25bps

September 17, 2024 (MLN): Traders see a 50 basis point rate cut from the Federal Reserve's Wednesday meeting a more likey outcome than the previously expected 25bps reduction.

Interest rate futures currently signal a 65% chance of a half-point cut. That's up from 34% last week, according to CME's FedWatch tool.

Market sentiment regarding the magnitude of the rate reduction is seldom divided in the US.
