Tokyo stocks closed higher on cheaper yen

Tokyo stocks closed slightly higher on Wednesday supported by a cheaper yen, despite ongoing concerns about global trade tensions and European political turbulence.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.38 percent or 86.19 points to close at 22,625.73, while the broader Topix index edged up 0.15 percent or 2.63 points to 1,777.59.
