February 15, 2022 (MLN): After the first Islamabad-Tehran-Turkey (ITI) train in December 2021, the third ITI train from Pakistan has entered Turkey and is about to reach its destination, Adviser to PM for Commerce and Investment, Abdul Razzaq Dawood informed today.

Taking to his official Twitter handle he said, “We are glad to share that after the first Islamabad-Tehran-Turkey (ITI) train in December 2021, the third ITI train from Pakistan has entered Turkey & is about to reach its destination, despite encountering some heavy weather & snowfall on the way.”

“Connectivity for Trade and Investment is the bedrock of our trade policy,” he added.

To recall, on January 5, 2021, the first ITI train carried goods from Pakistan to Turkey via Iran rolled into the capital Ankara.

The ITI cargo train started its journey from Islamabad on Dec. 21, 2021, and arrived in Ankara in around 13 days.

More freight trains will be operating on this route in the coming days. Regular operations would significantly reduce freight costs and Pakistan’s exporters should utilize this utility fully, the adviser said.
