Textile exports surge by 22% MoM during July FY20

August 22, 2019 (MLN): Textile group exports increased 3% YoY to $1.2 billion during July FY20 as compared to the same period last year, while on monthly basis it increased by 22%, according to State Bank of Pakistan.

The YoY increase in textile exports was mainly due to increase in exports of Knitwear, Bedwear and Readymade Garments by 5%, 7% and 11% respectively. Whereas on monthly basis, the exports of these commodities increased substantially by 31%, 25% and 11% respectively.

During the month under review, Knitwear exports increased to $262.4 million, while the exports of Bedwear and Readymade Garments surged to $207.7 million and $242.7 million respectively.

Meanwhile, exports of cotton Yarn declined by 8% YoY to $111 million where as the exports of cotton cloth remained stagnant at $198 million.

The exports of Towels and other Textile materials increased by 3% and 30% respectively as Pakistan earned $60.4 million and $57.6 million from it, as against $58.5 million and $44.4 million earned respectively in the same month of last year.
