SPI increases by 0.48% WoW

Weekly SPI increases by 0.7%

Nov 25, 2022 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 0.48% during the week ended Nov 24, 2022 while the SPI increased by 30.16% compared to the corresponding period from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 218.87 compared to 217.82 on Nov 17, 2022 while the index was recorded at 168.16 a year ago, on Nov 25, 2021

Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 19 items increased, 9 items decreased whereas 23 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 0.46% and 0.5%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 0.46% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.47%.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 28.51% and 31.34%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 28.51% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 30.32%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.2475 per 50 kg bag which is 0.16% higher than last week’s price and 17.47% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, average Cement price was recorded at Rs.1043 per 50 kg bag, which is 0.19% higher than the previous week and 40.76% higher than prices last year.
