Sindh faces fuel supply disruption on road blockades

April 23, 2025 (MLN): The Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) has raised concerns over a fuel supply crisis unfolding in Sindh due to ongoing road blockades in the Sukkur-Larkana division.

With approximately 800 tank lorries stranded, the movement of fuel supplies to upcountry locations and retail outlets has been severely disrupted.

Despite having adequate fuel stocks, OCAC warns that the delays caused by blockades and the lack of secure alternate routes could result in shortages across the province.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of the Government of Sindh, Syed Nazir Abbas Zaidi, Secretary General of OCAC, requested urgent intervention to ensure the security and safe passage of tank lorries to prevent further disruptions in fuel distribution.

The council urged local authorities to address the issue promptly, ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply and mitigating risks of shortages that may impact businesses and consumers.

This is a pivotal moment for Sindh, with stakeholders hoping swift action will prevent the escalation of this crisis.
