PKR remains flat against USD

April 03, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) edged up by 0.90 paisa against the US dollar in Friday’s interbank session, closing at 279.10 compared to the previous close of 279.11.

During the session, the currency recorded an intraday high (bid) of 279.25 and a low (ask) of 279.10.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278.50 for buying and 280.15 for selling.

Against major currencies, the PKR weakened by 31.06 paisa, or 0.10%, versus the Euro, settling at 322.18 compared to 321.87 previously.

The rupee also lost 64.41 paisa, or 0.17%, against the British Pound to close at 369.50, down from 368.86 a day earlier.

It depreciated by 55.77 paisa, or 0.16%, against the Swiss franc to 349.82.

Against the Japanese Yen, the local unit slipped marginally by 0.01 paisa, or 0.01%, to 1.7489 compared to 1.7488.

The PKR declined by 7.84 paisa, or 0.19%, against the Chinese Yuan, closing at 40.58 versus 40.50.

Meanwhile, it weakened slightly by 0.26 paisa against the Saudi Riyal to 74.35, but gained 0.04 paisa against the UAE Dirham to settle at 76.00.

On a broader basis, the rupee has appreciated by 4.66 against the US dollar, or 1.67%, during the current fiscal year, and has gained 1.02, or 0.37%, so far in the calendar year.

In the money market, the benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates increased by 1 basis point to 11.39% and 11.64%, respectively.
