SBP reserves rise $71m in a week

May 15, 2025 (MLN): The foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) increased by $70.6 million or 0.68% WoW to $10.4 billion during the week ended on May 09, 2025, data released by State Bank of Pakistan showed on Thursday.

Similarly, the country's total reserves increased by $131.2m or 0.85% WoW to $15.61bn.

The reserves held by commercial banks rose by $60.6m or 1.18% WoW to $5.21bn.

In the current fiscal year, SBP-held reserves have increased by $1.01bn or 10.8%.

Meanwhile, the current calendar year has seen a decrease of $1.31bn or -11.16%.

Amount in USD Million

It is important to note that on May 13, 2025, SBP has received 2nd tranche of SDR 760 million (US$ 1,023 million) from the IMF under EFF program. The amount will be reflected in SBP’s foreign exchange reserves for the week ending on  May 16, 2025.
