SBP enhances security with VPN-based access for portals

March 07, 2025 (MLN): The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced the transition to Virtual Private Network (VPN)-based access for its hosted portals, including the Regulatory Approval System (RAS) and the Service Desk, effective from May 30, 2025.

This transition aims to enhance the security of these portals, according to the press release issued by Central Bank.

As part of its digital transformation, SBP has implemented an end-to-end system for receiving requests and proposals from Regulated Entities (REs) and disseminating regulatory decisions through RAS.

Additionally, the SBP has established a ‘Service Desk System,’ an end-to-end complaint management portal, to address complaints regarding SBP-hosted portals, including RAS.

To ensure seamless access to these portals through VPN, REs are required to procure Multifactor Authentication (MFA) Licenses.

SBP has advised REs to acquire the necessary MFA accounts in a timely manner to comply with the transition deadline.
