Sale of Urea grows by 23.5 percent YoY during July

August 26, 2020 (MLN): The overall Urea offtake during the month of July 2020 was around 575 thousand tonnes, which shows an increase of 23.5 percent as compared to the same month of last year.

During Kharif 2020 (April-July), the cumulative urea offtake was 2,222 thousand tonnes, showing an increase of 11.5 percent over the same time frame of Kharif 2019.

It was estimated that about 3,614 thousand tonnes of urea would be available during Kharif 2020 which includes 592 thousand tonnes of opening inventory, 3022 thousand tonnes of domestic production. The offtake of urea is estimated to be about 3048 thousand tonnes, leaving a balance stock of 552 thousand tonnes of urea for coming Rabi 2020-21.

During July 2020, the offtake of urea increased by 26, 8, 35, and 70 percent in Punjab, Sindh, KP, and Balochistan respectively over July 2019.

Total available urea in July 2020 was about 910 thousand tonnes comprising of 414 thousand tonnes of opening inventory, 496 thousand tonnes of domestic production. The total offtake of urea was about 575 thousand tonnes leaving behind 335 thousand tonnes of opening stock for August 2020.
