Sale of securities by overseas investors depicts a sevenfold increase

January 15, 2021 (MLN): The gross sale of securities during the week ended January 08, 2021 was recorded at Rs.16.6 billion, which is around 747.7 percent higher than the figures recorded last week.

According to a weekly report on Specially Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRA) released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the total purchase of securities stood at Rs.21.3 billion, which is 106.5 percent higher than the prior week.

Consequently, the net purchase of securities for the week clocked in at Rs.4.69 billion, i.e. around Rs.3.67 billion lower than last week's numbers.

Over the week, the overall purchase of securities rose by Rs.10.99 billion while the net sale of securities increased by Rs.14.66 billion.

Apart from this, the inflow of remittance into these accounts stood at Rs.5.98 billion, while its outflow has been reported at Rs.1.62 billion.

The closing balance of SCRA was recorded at Rs.29.81 billion, which marks a rise of Rs.132.92 million over the week.
