July 9, 2019 (MLN): The Foreign Office on Tuesday dismissed reports appearing in media about Prime Minister’s participation in Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Russia, terming them as ‘speculative’.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Foreign Office Spokesman Mohammed Faisal said Pakistan and Russia remained in contact about engagement at the highest level.

“Any announcement in this regard would be formally made at an appropriate time,” he said.

The speculations transpired after sources from Foreign Office revealed that Prime Minister will attend the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia on the invitation of Russian President.

Following the above speculations, a statement from the Russian Foreign Office clarified that no formal invitation was made to Prime Minister Imran Khan yet to attend the EEF.

Eastern Economic Forum is an international forum held each year in Vladivostok, Russia, for the purpose of encouraging foreign investment in the Russian Far East.
