PSX outlines guidelines for designated market makers

July 29, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has issued the process and guidelines that shall be considered by the Exchange when assigning securities to the Designated Market Maker (DMM).

1. Exchange may assign specific security(s) to the Market Maker upon the request received from the concerned market maker by the provisions of Chapter 12 of the PSX Rulebook.
2. While assigning security(s), the Exchange shall consider various factors, including but not limited to, the capability of the market maker to maintain a fair and orderly market, enhance liquidity, and promote price discovery.
3. The market maker must agree to comply with the Exchange’s Code of Conduct and Rules, as amended from time to time.
4. The Exchange retains sole discretion in assigning securities to the DMM.
