April 10, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 116,189.21, showing an increase of 2,036.06 points or 1.78%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 117,484.16 (+3,331.01) and a low of 116,130.90 (+1,977.75) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 391.05 million shares.

This wave of positivity stemmed from U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to place a 90-day hold on his proposed tariff scheme for countries that have not retaliated against the United States amid ongoing trade tensions.

Of the 100 index companies 83 closed up, 15 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were PGLC (+10.02%), PAEL (+10.01%), SRVI (+10.00%), AIRLINK (+10.00%), and ILP (+9.14%).

On the other hand, top losers were BAHL (-1.64%), POML (-1.63%), TPLRF1 (-1.26%), AKBL (-1.26%), and MCB (-1.09%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were HUBC (+156.67pts), OGDC (+132.09pts), LUCK (+118.01pts), UBL (+113.91pts), and PPL (+112.01pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were BAHL (-60.60pts), MCB (-41.71pts), MEBL (-41.44pts), EFERT (-35.94pts), and AKBL (-6.86pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+399.27pts), Cement (+249.00pts), Technology & Communication (+225.71pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+204.91pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+132.36pts).

While the index was let down by Tobacco (-2.23pts), Real Estate Investment Trust (-1.54pts), Synthetic & Rayon (-0.96pts), Vanaspati & Allied Industries (-0.22pts), and Paper, Board & Packaging (-0.04pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 72,672.08 with a net gain of 1,278.24 points or 1.79%.

Total market volume was 638.09 million shares compared to 448.69m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs36.92 billion showing an increase of Rs10.34bn.

There were 320,549 trades reported in 450 companies with 345 closing up, 63 closing down, and 42 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 37,744 points or 48.12% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 1,062 points or 0.92% so far this calendar year.
