PSX Closing Bell: Wavin' Flag

February 19, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 113,342.43, showing an increase of 253.96 points or 0.22%.

The index traded in a range of 969.50 points showing an intraday high of 114,029.75 (+941.28) and a low of 113,060.25 (-28.22) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 461.02 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 68 closed up, 28 closed down, while 4 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were KEL (+15.37%), KOSM (+10.77%), YOUW (+9.07%), KOHC (+8.50%), and EPCL (+5.48%).

On the other hand, top losers were PGLC (-7.41%), LOTCHEM (-5.69%), BNWM (-5.66%), UBL (-4.65%), and LUCK (-3.94%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FFC (+128.53pts), BAHL (+99.15pts), MTL (+77.53pts), SYS (+65.40pts), and KOHC (+62.05pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-306.77pts), LUCK (-164.26pts), HUBC (-60.41pts), HBL (-46.74pts), and PPL (-20.86pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Fertilizer (+166.49pts), Technology & Communication (+83.50pts), Automobile Assembler (+79.16pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+33.80pts), and Pharmaceuticals (+28.47pts).

While the index was let down by Commercial Banks (-232.99pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-19.70pts), Cement (-16.16pts), Property (-3.96pts), and Automobile Parts & Accessories (-3.91pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 70,235.71 with a net gain of 159.01 points or 0.23%.

Total market volume was 667.72 million shares compared to 545.01m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs25.73 billion showing an increase of Rs4.99bn.

There were 273,465 trades reported in 449 companies with 236 closing up, 146 closing down, and 67 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 34,897 points or 44.49% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 1,784 points or 1.55% so far this calendar year.
