PSX Closing Bell: Trigger-Happy

Jul 08, 2021 (MNL): Following four-day losing streak, the capital market ultimately staged a turnaround on Thursday by gaining 805 points i.e., around 1.7% higher than the previous session and closed at 48,053-mark.

The index remained positive throughout the session on the back of increased liquidity and lower international oil prices.

On the announcement front, PSX notified the listing of Citi Pharma Limited (CPHL) with effect from tomorrow i.e., Friday, July 09, 2021.

The Index touched an intraday high of 48,053.17 points

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 79 closed up 15 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 187.89 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 163 points, Cement with 144 points, Commercial Banks with 107 points, Fertilizer with 87 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 51 points.

The most points added to the index was by TRG which contributed 121 points followed by LUCK with 79 points, HUBC with 40 points, SYS with 35 points and ENGRO with 31 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Vanaspati & Allied Industries with 1 points and Leasing Companies with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by AGP which stripped the index of 7 points followed by KOHC with 5 points, ABOT with 3 points, ANL with 2 points and ABL with 2 points.

All Share Volume increased by 63.04 Million to 475.24 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.111.17 Billion.

Total companies traded were 429 compared to 412 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 312 closed up, 96 closed down while 21 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 26,119 to 159,289.

Value Traded increased by 6.34 Billion to Rs.21.31 Billion
