October 10, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 85,453.22, showing a decrease of 216.05 points or 0.25%.

The index traded in a range of 587.72 points showing an intraday high of 86,013.46 (+344.19) and a low of 85,425.74 (-243.53) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 293.94 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 42 closed up, 54 closed down, 3 were unchanged, while 1 remained untraded.

Top losers during the day were MEHT (-7.91%), KOSM (-5.98%), LCI (-5.09%), YOUW (-4.53%), and AIRLINK (-3.43%).

On the other hand, top gainers were PTC (+10.00%), BNWM (+6.77%), PPL (+4.74%), PIBTL (+4.59%), and NBP (+3.58%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were EFERT (-96.38pts), FFC (-77.89pts), HBL (-48.75pts), LUCK (-43.93pts), and MARI (-33.43pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were PPL (+128.17pts), PSO (+42.29pts), NBP (+37.25pts), PTC (+25.12pts), and SEARL (+13.04pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Fertilizer (-181.52pts), Commercial Banks (-76.74pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-33.87pts), Chemical (-27.24pts), and Cement (-26.42pts).

While the index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+117.86pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+51.11pts), Pharmaceuticals (+41.84pts), Transport (+6.96pts), and Real Estate Investment Trust (+3.75pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 54,558.10 with a net loss of 58.44 points or 0.11%.

Total market volume was 503.75 million shares compared to 596.05m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs27.91 billion showing a decrease of Rs3.43bn.

There were 248,226 trades reported in 430 companies with 149 closing up, 213 closing down, and 68 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 7,008 points or 8.93% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 23,002 points, equivalent to 36.83%.
