March 06, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index ended Wednesday's trading session at 65,656.62 showing a decrease of 69.42 points or 0.11%.

The index traded in a range of 547.07 points showing an intraday high of 66,150.95 (+424.91) and a low of 65,603.88 (-122.16) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 191.568 million shares.

S&P Global Ratings is closely monitoring Pakistan’s external funding situation for the next FY, and there is little doubt over the nation’s ability to fulfill its debt obligations through June. The key thing is securing the IMF funding,” said YeeFarn Phua, sovereign analyst at S&P in Singapore as reported by Arif Habib Limited.

“Once the IMF program is engaged and the government starts working on policies listed in the program, that usually enables bilateral partners to come in as well, for FY25,” YeeFarn Phua added.

Advancers to decliners remained equally distributed, with 44 companies closing up and 50 closing down.

Meanwhile 1 was unchanged and 5 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was let down by Fertilizer with 69.36, Technology & Communication with 46.56, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 35.32, Cement with 25.37, and Chemical with 12.05 points.

On the flip-side, the index was supported by Food & Personal Care Products with 48.35, Commercial Banks with 25.54, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 18.26, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 16.38, and Pharmaceuticals with 10.48 points.

Companies that dragged the index lower were ENGRO with 45.81, MARI with 43.8, TRG with 24.34, KEL with 15.24 and SYS with 14.57 points.

On the other hand, companies that added points to the index were NESTLE with 36.32, MCB with 34.71, PSO with 17.74, DAWH with 15.9, and HUBC with 15.21 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 43,454.19 with a net gain of 30.52 points.

Total market volume was 419.737 million shares compared to 396.598 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs18.30 billion showing an increase of Rs1.70bn.

There were 200,668 trades reported in 351 companies with 163 closing up, 169 closing down and 19 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 24,204 points or 58.39% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 3,206 points, equivalent to 5.13%.
