November 23, 2021 (MLN): Market saw another thrashing of 796 points today on account of lack of triggers and rollover week which led the KSE-100 index to close at 44,948 level, down by 1.74% DoD.

Furthermore, broader than expected policy rate hike by 150 bps coupled with a swell in foreign debt to $3.8tn in first four months of current fiscal year  also weighed down on investors’ sentiments, a closing note by Aba Ali Habib securities cited.

The Index traded in a range of 1035.17 points or 2.26 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 45,916.28 and a low of 44,881.11.

Of the 91 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 10 closed up 80 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 110.56 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Technology & Communication with 178 points, Cement with 145 points, Commercial Banks with 94 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 64 points and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 44 points.

The most points taken off the index was by SYS which stripped the index of 89 points followed by TRG with 80 points, LUCK with 37 points, MEBL with 37 points and OGDC with 30 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Tobacco with 3 points, Insurance with 2 points and Leasing Companies with 1 points.

The most points added to the index was by BAHL which contributed 14 points followed by EFUG with 6 points, FML with 3 points, MCB with 3 points and MUREB with 3 points.

All Share Volume increased by 2.71 Million to 264.61 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.124.43 Billion.

Total companies traded were 358 compared to 344 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 49 closed up, 297 closed down while 12 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 9,432 to 118,711.

Value Traded decreased by 1.21 Billion to Rs.9.73 Billion
